MancFurs is a community-run furry meet held in Manchester, bringing together costumers and fans of anthropomorphised animals for a relaxed afternoon gathering. The event takes place at The Church on Chorlton Street, a venue distinct from typical hotel ballrooms that offers a more intimate setting for socialising. The meet runs from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, providing a focused window for attendees to connect without the commitment of a full-day convention. As a local community event, the atmosphere is informal, encouraging interaction between regulars and newcomers alike.
A key feature of the programme is the organised Fursuit Walk, scheduled for 2:00 pm and subject to weather conditions. Participants gather outside The Church to walk through Sackville Gardens, where a large, organised photoshoot takes place. To support attendees, a dedicated Fursuit Lounge is available throughout the day, offering a space for suiting and de-suiting with access to fresh water and, on larger occasions, snacks. Pre-registration for the lounge is available via a Telegram bot to manage queues, and bottled water is provided during the walk for hydration.
The event is strictly 18+ only, requiring attendees to bring valid identification, with Citizens Cards explicitly excluded. Accessibility is considered, with an accessible toilet on the ground floor and a ramp leading to the Fursuit Lounge, though the main entrance via Canal Street has a single step. The venue does not serve food, but a bar offers alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and nearby dining options are available. MancFurs maintains a Code of Conduct to ensure a safe and welcoming environment, with staff in high-visibility vests available to assist attendees throughout the event.
